Don’t Call Me Urban!

Don’t Call Me Urban!

by Simon Wheatley

Originally published in 2010, Don’t Call Me Urban! The Time of Grime returns in an expanded 2025 edition, four years in the making and nearly twice the size of the original.

Photographed between 1998 and 2010, this book documents the formative years of grime through the people, places and social landscape from which the movement emerged. Featuring newly edited archive material, updated image production and a fresh layout, this edition offers a renewed perspective on a defining period in British music and youth culture. Published under my own imprint, Backdoor Editions, it features an introduction by Clint419, founder of Corteiz, who has credited my photography as a visual inspiration for his brand. The hardcover edition contains 352 pages and measures 240 × 170 mm. Published in 2025, with limited stock available.
